Australian Daniel Kochan Cashes for $176,000 in FTOPS Event #9

San Jose, Costa Rica (PRWEB) February 15, 2008 -- PocketFiver Daniel Kochan outlasted over 7,700 players this past Sunday in the FullTilt Online Poker Series to place 2nd in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Event #9 for $176,720, moving him into the Top 5 of online tournament players in the country of Australia, according to the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings (http://www.pocketfives.com/rankings). The Top 10 saw very few changes this week, as Chad Batista (http://www.pocketfives.com/profiles/M8kingmoves), known on P5's as "M8kingmoves," retained his spot as the #1 online tournament player in the world. Also attracting attention this past Sunday were Carl "Colson10" Olson, who won the PokerStars $150k Guaranteed tournament for $56,584, and "8balldeluxe," who won the UltimateBet $200k Guaranteed for $45,000.

This month's FTOPS events have brought out many big name online poker personalities, as 18 high-stakes players are currently competing in a points-based contest that will reward $30,000 to the winning team. We may not know which team will come out victorious until this Sunday's FTOPS Event #17 $1.5 Million Guaranteed tournament, which will be hosted by FullTilt Pro and PocketFiver Scott "emptyseat88" Fischman.

Another famous professional poker player, Tony "Bond18" Dunst, wrote a feature article for PocketFives titled "Things it took me a while to Learn - Part 13: Ranges," which is an in-depth discussion about tournament hand ranges and how to use opponents' tendencies to your advantage. His article is sure to be a hot topic of discussion on PocketFives' Poker Forums (http://www.pocketfives.com/3CF89946-F391-43C4-8A6C-37178DB94081.aspx) this week.

This week's PocketFives.com Podcast features an in-depth interview with EPT Dortmund Champion Mike "Timex" McDonald. Mike won $1.4 Million earlier this month, as he became the youngest EPT Champion at the age of 18. On this week's show, "Timex" goes into detail about his tournament strategy, as well as the backing and staking arrangements he has with live and online players. Visitors can download the PocketFives.com Podcast every week by subscribing to it via iTunes. Listeners can also listen to past shows by visiting the Podcast (http://www.pocketfives.com/E9E77351-46EE-452B-8206-59D4EAE1B5B2.aspx) landing page.

PocketFivers who are regular PokerStars players are anxiously awaiting this Sunday's PokerStars Turbo Takedown, where the entry fee is 10,000 Frequent Player Points (FPPs) for a chance at a $2 Million prize pool. First place in this tournament will take home $200,000. Satellites to the Turbo Takedown can be played for as little as 10 FPPs, and can be found in the EVENTS tab on the PokerStars Client.
