Primus Australia Increases Its Fibre Optic Network Capacity Ten Fold

(PRWEB) October 2, 2007 -- Primus Australia today announced it was boosting its fibre optic transmission capacity by ten fold in response to customer demand for broadband capacity.

Primus Australia Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Ravi Bhatia said, "This major investment will provide us with the platform to offer our customers with "gold-plated" super fast video and audio streaming, IPTV, VOIP and other Broadband services (http://www.primus.com.au/PrimusWeb/HomeSolutions/BroadbandInternet/). This will be Primus' next generation platform."

"This major investment in bolstering our fibre optic network capacity has been driven by customer demand and market expansion. It is also a vote of confidence in the continued success of Primus in the Australian telecommunications market," Mr Bhatia said.

Since beginning operations in Australia in 1995, Primus has been at the forefront when it comes to investing in telecommunications infrastructure which has provided Primus with the capacity to offer the broadest possible suite of innovative and competitively priced products and services. Primus is one of Australia's leading broadband providers (http://www.primus.com.au/PrimusWeb/HomeSolutions/BroadbandInternet/).

Most of Primus' DSLAM exchanges across Australia will be connected with transmission using Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM). Each site will be readily upgradeable to speeds as high as 10 Gigabits per second dedicated per site.

This major upgrade will be focussed initially on Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and then progressively rolled-out to other centres.
